  • Description: We choose high-quality raw material to improve the compression strength of the cable floats, the maximum pressure resistance can reach 110 MPa. It provides net buoyancy for submarine cables, to make sure the cables could float in water. Floats are customized according to customers’ drawings, working depth, and working environments.

Brief Introduction of Solid Buoyancy Material.

Currently, solid buoyancy materials mainly include polyurethane foam materials, copolymer foam materials, composite foam materials, and syntactic foam materials.

  • Polyurethane foam: The cost of pontoon material made of polyurethane foam material can be well controlled, but it is mainly used in water with a depth of fewer than 100 meters on the surface and below the water surface. When used underwater, this foam material must be completely covered by other materials to ensure that it is completely isolated from water, because this foam has water absorption. If it is in direct contact with seawater for a long time, the material will absorb water under the action of water pressure.
  • Copolymer foam: Cross-linked copolymer foam is a hard closed-cell foam that can withstand the static pressure of seawater without the need for a complete enclosure. This foam is usually processed into blocks or sheets, but before processing and testing, many key factors must be considered. The low-density foam of this copolymer material is suitable for short-term applications. If used in a continuous hydrostatic pressure load environment for a long time, this material will undergo plastic creep, deformation and volume reduction, so it will reduce buoyancy. The density of the material ranges from 0.04 to 0.4g/cm3, and the maximum working depth can reach 600m.
  • Syntactic foam: Syntactic foam material is a new type of solid buoyancy material. The advantage of this material is that it can maintain sufficient strength in the case of extremely low density, and has the characteristics of high compressive strength, low creep, and low water absorption. This makes it possible to provide buoyancy and protection for the equipment in the deep sea.
